Who you should be

who you were before the world told you who you should be

Who were you?

Sometimes we forget.

Do you remember when you used to daydream about the person you would someday become?

Do you still recognize that person inside of you, or has it become buried like so many of us beneath the expectations of your friends, family, and society?

When exactly did we let go of our dreams, and is it possible to get them back?

Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda

Why do we buy into it?

Why do we go along and continue to play the game that they are want us to play? Why do their expectations, hopes, and missed opportunities become our goals in life?

Who were we before they told us who we should be?

I have no answers, just the questions…

  1. Oh yes, I’ve found myself again, but it took a while…more than thirty years in fact, six children, nine grandchildren, a breakup , a move abroad and back , a lost house and two years of searching ! So here I am, artist and now seaweed researcher still exploring and wondering about the world that surrounds me.
