Don’t waste any more time sitting around waiting to be picked or look for someone else to give you permission to do what you want to do. This isn’t your 10th grade gym class, this is your life.
If you want to become a writer, an artist, or a musician then sit down and get to work.
You don’t need the right tools or a college degree to get started. What you need is to stop making excuses and start putting in the work. Despite what you may have heard being a writer or creative artist is actually work. If you want to be a writer, write. If you want to be a painter, paint.
It’s that simple.
Don’t wait for someone to tell you that you’re good enough. Don’t wait for the classes, the books, that new computer, or those fancy paintbrushes. Just start with what you’ve got and create something. Keep in mind, however, that just because it’s simple that doesn’t mean it will necessarily be easy. Chances are everyone (including yourself) may doubt you and your abilities along the way.
But that’s okay, because it’s not up to them — it’s up to you to decide what you will become.
“If you wish to be a writer, write.”
