Shiny objects<\/h3>\n

Most people would agree that\u00a0it’s a great time\u00a0to be a writer or visual artist.<\/p>\n

Blogs and social media\u00a0have allowed us to share our creative work almost instantly with our friends and fans around the world. We are now able to come together and create thriving online creative communities<\/a>\u00a0where we can share our highs and lows and take comfort in the fact that we’re not alone.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the internet is not all rainbows and adorable kitten videos, and as you probably already know, there is a darker side as well. \u00a0Between YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, and online shopping–there are no shortage of shiny objects available online to distract us and keep us from doing our creative work.<\/p>\n

The famous inventor Thomas Edison\u00a0once said that creativity is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration, but in our defense, he never had to deal with the internet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
