Do what you can

I used to stop myself from writing because I felt like I wasn’t ready.

However, after talking with hundreds of writers and creative artists online, I realize that no matter how old we are or how much experience we may have, it is always difficult to take that next step.

We don’t have to do perfect work, we simply have to work.

We may not be able to control the outcome or how our creative work is ultimately received, but we can control the process. Every day we choose whether we are going to get up and continue on our creative path or if we are going to let our fears and doubts stop us from doing what we love.

The artist Laurie Anderson was right when she observed that all we can do is push aside our doubts and try to make the most beautiful thing we can each and every day because, in the end, that’s enough.
