Normal is Overrated

Normality is a paved road

Being considered normal is a strange thing (not that I would really know).

On one hand, being normal indicates a sense of belonging and membership into a group.  Being normal means that you are in the majority or at least similar to the people you are hanging out with.

Normal is about comfort not creativity

True creativity is rarely found in the middle of the bell curve or your comfort zone—it’s found around the edges of your experiences.

What this means is that the more you do and the more you feed your mind with new experiences, the more likely those seeds of creativity will fall on fertile soil.

Don’t waste your time searching for comfort in your art or from your audience.

Your job is simply to create, put it out there, and then let it go.

“Normality is a paved road: it’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it.”
~Vincent van Gogh
